(By .Mrs John Carrie, UiversdaL). Vi'e are requested to publish Hie folI lowing :_ L I.A lew verses composed 'by Mrs Clinic on the Gordon Highlanders when the fell in South Africa). (Jul- brave gallant Gordons, The flower of our army, No words are needed; f o r sounding their praise. But the country that loved them Will care for their dear ones, So peiace to the Gordons aside]) on the hill. We hear of our Queen At she enters her chamber, Willi tear-laden eyes to kneel and to pray For dearly she loved them And proudly she viewed them, Her own gallant Cordons asleep on the hill. Blue is the smoke From the homes of their childhood And true blue were those hearts that arc now cold and still. But the country that lov'd them, Will care for their dear ones, So pence to the Gordons asleep on the hill. Blow gently yc winds, And remember they're Bleeping, Their deeds will remain while 'their slumbers go on. Their beloved ones alone. In yon glens are now weeping, For their 'brave (gallant Gordons asleep on the hill.
