LONDON, Feb. 15. At conference of unemployed it wai. decided to. recommend the Government to undertake extensive works for the public benefit. Three thousand unemployed held a l demonstration in Trafalgar Square, and passed a resolution calling upon the Government to provide work, attributing the distress to the war, LONDON, February 17 The Clyde shipbuilders have accepted reduced rates of pay. : WELLINGTON, February 17. It has been decided by thr'Minister of Public Works that carpenters employed in the Government workshops shall he paid the minimum wage, Is 4d per hour, fixed by the Arbitration Court, while workmen of special ability shall receive Is 6d per hour.
