THE AUSTRALIANS IN ENGLAND. THE MATCH AGAINST SURREY. London, July 21. MEETING OF LADIES. A meeting of ladies interested in the Temuka Cricket Club was held in the Temuka District High School yesterday afternoon. Although a large number attended, it was to be regretted that the members of the Cricket Club were not more largely represented. It was proposed by Airs Hayhurst and seconded by Miss Brown, “ That Airs T. Brown be president and Miss M. McCaskill be secretary.”—Carried. It was proposed by Mrs Brown and seconded by Airs Hayhurst, “ That a ‘ Cricketers’ Carnival ’ he held on Thursday, August 21st, that sixpence be charged for admission, and that no passes be granted.”—Agreed to. Members of the Cricket Club liras undertaken the charge of the pingpong tables, the arrangement of the stalls, etc. The different stalls will bo presided over by the following ladies with the assistance of their friends : Refreshment Stall — Mesdames T. Brown, Hayhurst, Buxton, and Misses Brown and E. Lee. Work Stall Mesdames Feildeu, Hayes, Twomey, Roulston, McLeod, and Adcock. Jumble Stall—Mesdames Holwell, Gappcr, Coira, Pollock, and Di:k. A meeting wil be held Li Die school next Wednesday at -LAO to make further arrangements.
