Woodbury School.

The ordinary monthly meeting was heW on May 25th. Present—Messrs Dean (chairman), Fifbid, Scjtt, Shaw, Harris, hlat-)M, aud Cordy. A letter was rend from tho South Canterbury Board of Education, intimating that tho incidentals for the present quarter, £3 17s Cd, had been paid to the committee's credit in the Bank of Now South Wales, Geraldine. HEAD MASTER'S REI'OKT. Tho head master's report was read 33 follows: " The Chairman, Woodbury School Committep, '' Sir. — 1 beg to submit the following particulars in connection with the attendance at the i chool for the past four weeks : Males Females Total. Total attendances 1155 780 1'.)35 Times open ... 38 Average attendance 30.3 20 5 50.8 Weekly roil ... 37 24 01 Highest attendauce 3i> 22 57 Lowest attendance 12 10 22 It will bo seen from the above statement that the attendance during the past four weeks has not been so satisfactory as it should have been. As requested I have made inquiries aa to tho probable number of childreu who would visit Christchnreh ou the occasion of the visit of the Duke of York, and I fiud that nearcely any would be willing to go under tho proposed conditions. lam of opinion that the mode of conveyance suggested by the Railway Department would be found very unsuitable for childreu at this time of the year. —I have, etc , " J. directed, accepted tho lowest tender for cleaning the school, viz, Mrs Harris, ill 15a. The committee endorsed the (ic'iou of tlie chairman. The chairman also stated that he had ascertained the cost of Mammoth Rochester lamp 3, and submitted iha prices, which were considered satisfactory, and on the motion of filr Shaw, seconded by Mr Cordy, it was resolved that two lamp 3 us described be procured, the chairman to attend to this matter.

Reaolved that Mr John Scott supply three cords mixed firewood as soon as convenient. Messrs FiGeld and Harris stated that they had visited the school and fonud all satisfactory, with the exception of the attendance. Messrs Dean and Baton consented to act as visiting committee for the ensuing month. One small account was passed for payment. After passing a ?ote of thanks to the hair the meeting closed.
