The schooner Onward from Greymouth struck on the tar at Gisborne on going into the river on Tuesday, and the swell sent her on the rocks and a big hole was soon knocked in her bottom. The vessel was filled in five minutes. The cargo of coal was discharged into carts at low tide. The extent of the damage is not yet known, but is thought to be considerable.
