J. RAYNER, Returning Officer, ap26 Temuka. TO THE RATEPAYERS IN THE MODNT PEEL ROAD BOARD DISTRICT. GENTLEMEN,—! have had to resign my Seat on the Mount Peel Road Board for LENDING A FEW CASKS OF CEMENT to the Overseer of the Road Board, and instead of the Cement being returned to me, the Board paid me EXACTLY WHAT I PAID FOR If, viz., 16s 6d (cash), with the addition of the Railway Fare, and 12s a ton for Cartage from Orari Railway Station. The Provincial Auditor, I think, IS QUITE RIGHT in saving no Member can have any Money dealings with the Board. 1 ought to have known this. The principal fault lies id the BOARD REFUSING TO KEEP A FEW CASKS OF CEMENT ON HAND FOU ANY PRESSING WORK. AS HE HAS NONE, he is OBLIGED TO BORROW, and henee the Mistake which has happened to me. ItisNOTmy intention to SEEK A SEAT on the Board at the next Election, and I have now to THANK YOU ALL for the honor you have always conferred upon me from the foundation of the Board by giving me a Seat there ; and whefl an Election has taken place you have always elected me, and on coo occasion placed me at the bead of the Poll. I am, Gentlemen, Your obedient servant, C. Q. TRIPP. Orari Gorge, 26th April, 1897. ap26
