.Paddy Murphy only pokes him under the ribs and laughs up in bis face iu such a Jroll, good-humored sort of way that creates no ill feeling, Paddy Cot’s Budget and Zozimus two , Dublin publications now defnnct—may be taken as the prototypes of Paddy f-Murphyi The Annual is dedicated as follows TO WILLIAM THE GREAT-THE PEOPLE’S KING. It is needless to say that this is intended for Mr Gladstone, and in it there is more poetic feeling than iu any other piece that Paddy Murphy has written. 1 We find but bne fault in it, and that is ,addressing ,Mr Gladstone as. “ Billy.” The rhyme would have been as good had : he used “ William ” instead of “ Billy,” and the poem would bare been, far more dignified in its tone, and more worthy of the great man to whom it is addressed, However, one of Paddy Murphy’s peculiarities is to do things different'’from other people, acd tbis. metier, which is only of taste, will be generally overlooked when the excellence of the remainder of the piece is considered. Anyone desirous of procuring some pleasant reading ought to get a copy of Paddy Murphy’s Annual.
