TEMUKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly ranting of the above Committee was held last I'hursday evening. Present—Messrs J. Brown (Chairman), Davis, Biyth, Miles, and Cooper, MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. HEAD MASTER'S REPORT. A letter was received from ibe Head Master, reporting that the number on the roll was—Boy*, 181 ; girls, 154 ; total, 885. Avenge attendance ; Boys, 140.4 ; gir s, 124.5 ; total, 265. Highest attendance : Boys, 152 ; girls, ) 32; total, 284. At the annual ex* animation 178 boys and 155 girls bad been prasented. visitor’s report. Mr Davis reported that he had visited the school twice, thirteen loads of shingle had been put down, and everything was in good order with the exception that some of the air bricks were broken. It was evident that they bad been broken by strong boys, as there were stones ot 2lbs t*A 2£ib weight near them. There should be some steps taken to protect the ;,prqpfrty from destruction, and ha recommended that iron ventilators should be put in. The Chairman said he had spoken to the Head Master, sod ho *bad said they bad not been broken by the scholars. The Secretary was iutructed to ask the Board to be good enddgh to instruct their architect to inspect; the , buildings regarding the brick ventilators required, and this Committee Biggest that strong cast-iron ventilators be supplied ; and also to report as to the necessity of distempering the walls and •eiling. TMC CONCERT. The Secretary reported that the gross' proceeds of the concert were £ls 5s 61, and the net proceeds about £l2. On the motion of Me Davis, seconded by Mr Miles, a. hearty vole of thanks was passed to the Secretary for the successful manner in which he bad carried out the concert. Mr Rout thanked the Committee for their vote of thanks. MISCELLANEOUS. Accounts to the amount of £2 13s 6d were passed for payment. The Chaiiman and Secretary were appointed a Committee to draw up the annual report.
The Chairman said they ought to draw Countable Morton’s attention to the fact that boys were in the school grounds during the holidays,*—lt was decided to remove the swings during the holidays, and to ask the police to prevent boys from going on to tio school grounds daring the vacation. Tho meeting then adjourned.
