ST. SAVIOUR'S SUNDAY SCHOOL, TEMUKA.

The annual distribution of prism in con* section with this school took place on Bun* day, 26-h December, in Bt. Saviour'* Church. There wa» a large gathering of parent* and friendi, and over 180 soho'ara were present with their teaehen. After the usual opening service, the Incumbent apologised for the unavoidable absence of the Hopaiiotendent, Mr A, W. Gaia, bat stated that Mrs Gaie had ' kindly consented to distribute the prises. He then read an txstraet from Mr Gase’a letter of apology as follows i—" Please express my thanks to the teachers for their services during the 12 months I beve been with them and to the scholars for their general good conduct. With the winners of my special prises I am particnlarly well pleased, ae 1 think that they have attended school with wonderful regularity and pro* fitted by what they have learned.” The eystem on which the prises Were awarded was then explained ae fr UoweThe class marks gained during the y; ar were added to tboee gained in open examination and the places were assigned to those on the totals. The Incumbent expressed great pleasure at the satisfactory results of the examination. The thoughtful answers given by the children indicated thorough' and careful teaching. The children on the whole bad acquitted themselves admirably, and the teaohari and Superintendent were to be congratulated on the reenlfc achieved. He trusted that God’s Word and the “ Truth as it is in Jesus ” would, rink down into their, hearts and "bring forth the finita of good living.” Several boys had evaded the examination and in consequence would lose their priaee. Mary Wilis and Harriet Aekroyd, in their respective classes, were specially commended for the excellence of their examination papers, . The priaee being distributed, tna Incumbent annonnoed a holiday for tho forthcoming Sunday in order to give the teachers a rest. He then thanked all who had contributed towards the prise fond, and for the kindly recognition of the importance of Sunday School work by the presence and sympathy of so many of the parent* and friende on such an occasion. The closing prayers and a hymn terminated the proceedings.
