Oldfield, asking his i name to ba taken off lit* rate roll for a i section at Milford, as he no longer ocr cupied it.—Decided to grant the applioation so long as tbs present occupier i offered no objection. The name of Mr J. T. 11. Hsyhnrst - w«s substituted for Mr Dickenson’s, and i Mr Uden’s for Mr Robert Lavery’s on the rate roll. From Mr Pearson, applying for his 1 name to be placed on the rate roll instead . of Mr W. Cox for section* in Arowhenua. A similar application from Mr J. C. Williams was received. He applied for his name to be placed on the ; roll instead of Mr Brown’s.—The Chairman said he thought they had no right to Interfere now that the district had been proclaimed. Mr Quinn suggested te obtain legs! advice on the matter.—The Chairmen did not think they ought to go to any expense in the matter. If people were so anxious to get their names on the roll let them get legal advice.—Mr Hayhurst said the best thing would be to let the matter stand over, and if anyone got legal advice that it could be done then authority could be given to the Clerk to make the alteration.—A resolution to that effect was carried. From Mr C. Nicholson, asking his name to be taken off the roll, and that of Mr Anderson substituted,—Granted. From Mr Kelland, complaining of the state of the road at Kakahu.—The Overseer was instructed to see to it. From Messrs Perry and Perry, with regard to a farm occupied by Mr Fitzgerald, and asking whether any rates remained unpaid on it, and what was its ▼slue. —lt was decided to Ist them know the amount of rates, but that the Beard could give no estimate of its value. From Mr Carson, Winchester, applying for leave to erect a sign board on the footpath at Winchester.—Granted, subject to the Overseer’s approval. From Messrs Geo. Bolton and Co., intimating that they intend to apply for a slaughtering license for section 2950, Milford.—No objection. From Mr Quino, applying for his name to be placed on the rate roll for section 2950, Milford. —Qrsnted. From Mr C. W. Girason, intimsting be would apply for a slaughterhouse license for section 4930, Winchester. —The Overseer was instructed to see to the matter. From Mr Stubbs asking fora return of the amount of rates collected. From Mr J. H. Baker, asking the ' Board to send a return of the money expended in Aiowbenua, and stating that the expenditure on the creek could hardly come within the scope of tha Act. From Mr Sutherland, stating that Mr Scott held the farm at Waitohi for which he had been noticed to clear off gorse. From Mr Clark, refusing to contribute towards the expense of cleaning the drain applied for by him «t last meeting.—lt was decided not to do the work. Prom Mr A. W. E nsor, complaining of ibe drain cut through land leased by him from the railway. He had no objection to tbe drain being made through it so long is it was covered over.—The Over seer was instructed to do what was necessary. From tbe Hospitai and Charitable Aid Board, giving details of the valuation of the various, distr ecs, aud of how the amounts claimed from each Board had been srrived at. Prom the Treasury, Wellington, intimating that the balance of the subsidy would be payable as sbon as the necessary declaration was forwarded. INTERVIEWS. 1 Mr D. Pearse applied for tbe Board te 1 shingle the road at the foot of Evans’ cutting, Waitohi.—The Overseer was in- ] strutted to report on tbe matter to next i meeting. , Mr Stengar waited on tbe Board, asking tbe Board to remove some fences in the | township of Rangitata. The gorse had 1 not been cut. down for five years and was 1 dangerous. He wanted the gorse removed i and the road opened, either by a gate, i or by having it opened altogether.— , After some conversation it was decided , to leave the matter in the hands of tbe ( Overseer, and if he cannot settle it to report at next meeting. POISONED GRAIN. ' A discussion took place on tbe subject cf poisoned wheat, it being suggested that it would be better to supply strychnine i than poisoned wheat. i In reply to the Chairman the Clerk said that £35 fis 9d had been spent on poisoned wheat this year, ft was decided to order five bags of poisoned wheat, and lOog. strychnine. TENDERS. Tenders were opened as follows : Contract No. 64 Cleaning Toner’s drain. —r Three tenders were put ip, Messrs H. Brew and J, Simpson each tendered at £6 Bs, and the question was left to be decided by lot, which resulted in Simpson getting the contract. Contract No. 65—Carting shingle for repairs.—Two tenders were put in, that of W. Lewis at Is per cubic yard for the first half mile and 3£d for each subsequent half mile « as accepted. I have put in fresh girders and repaired the old crossing at a small cost. It will now meet all requireinents for some years. Tbe contractor for cleaning the Canal drain, Orari, has failed to complete this work according to specifications; the cheque drawn last Board day has therefore not been paid.
