TKMUKA. The monthly meeting of the Tamoka .Tfii wn - / Board was held last evening. Present—Messrs Blyth (in the chair), Quipn, Mason, and Brown, MINUTES. The concrete , Culvert. in Commerce Street had been re* decked, as it was rotten. One man had been employed 16£ days cutting gorse . and cleaning water-channels. Two cases which had come under his notice as Inspector of Nuisances bad been remedied.” . Accounts to the amount of £26 8a 7d were passed for payment and the meeting adjourned. GERALDINE. The monthly meeting of this Board wad held in their office on Tuesday evening; Present—Messrs B. H. Pearpoint (Chairman), W. S. Maslin, J. Huffey, T. Farrell, J. Mundell, and R. Taylor. The Clerk was in attendance. From Mr Kalman, asking for kerbing to be laid in front of his new shop, and offering to pay half the cost of same.— Decided to accede to the request. From Mr N. Morrison, asking the Board to refund him the cost of altering the fence near Mr Williams’ corner.—lt was decided to refund the amount. TBEDBBS. The following tenders were then opened and accepted;— Formation, etc., on Pratt’s road—M. Buckley, £ls 2s. Formation near Bowkett’s and the drillshed—J. Fiefield, £lßlos. DAMAGING ASPHALT. Mr Maslin drew the attention of the Board to the fact that someone had driven over.the asphalt near Mr Glass’ corner.— It was decided that the Overseer be instructed to erect a notice cautioning persons against driving aver the asphalt. AcaoxTifTS, Accounts amounting to £B7 13s lid were passed for. payment. CHARITABLE AID. The Chairman brought before the Board the question af charitable aid. He thought that as the Board had to contribute their share they should knowhow the money, was spent, and that any application for charitable aid coming from the Garaldine ttwn district should be forwarded In the Town Board for them to express their opinion upan it. Members were entirely of ene opinion upon the matter, and Mr Mundell proposed, Mr Maslin seconded, and it was carried—“ That the Clerk write to the Charitable Aid Board with respect to having the applications brought before the Town Board.” overseer’s report. The Overseer’s report was read as follows : “ The Chairman and members of the Geraldine Town Board. “ Gentlemen, —I have the hoaor to report for the past month as follows: The surface-men have been mainly engaged in top-dressing the asphalt and levelling the inside of the footpath. In addition to the attention given to water- | tables and stone-breaking in dull weather, they have laid down and completed the asphalting at the Anglican Church, and Messrs R. Morrison’s, J. Mundall's, W. Maslin’s, N. Dunlep’s, and R. H. Pearpoint’s. The kerbing is scarcely fit to be plastered whilst the heavy frosts are hanging about, therefore, it would be well to let the matter stand over for a time. The asphalt that hat been topdressed is standing well, and when the whole length completed will prove a great : booh to the ratepayers.—-During the 1 month steps will have to be taken in J advertising the general election, which ' takes place on Wednesday, the 15th day 1 of September, when all members go out 1 of office. It will be for the Board to appoint a Returning Officer, in accordance - with the Regulations of Local Elections * Act 1876.—During the month I have re- ■ ceived —from rates, £4los; asphalt, £4 ; ' tithes, £4 4s; rents, £5 15a; dog fees, £1; sundries, 7« 6d ; making a total of 1 £l9 16s 6d, which has been placed to the credit of the Board.—The preliminary 1 steps should be taken rt the framing of No. 3 by-law, regulating and licensing conveyances plying for hire within the i town district.
