AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT.

TIMARU.

Mr D. Maclean (for Messrs James A. Grade and Co.) reports for the period ending Saturday «s follows;

Horses—On the 25th ult. we held a special sale at the Washdyke yards, when our entry consisted of 72 head. Prices realised were from £2 to £lO 5«. Otipua colts and fillies sold at from £7 to £l4, and others at up to £2O. On the 29th ult. at the Timaru Horse Bazaw, we entered for sale 45 head, and as a large proportion of the entry consisted of firstclass draughts (for which there is a really good demand), prices of the preceding Saturday were well maintained. We sold 19 head. Our entry to-day, of 21 bead, was the smallest for some time back, tbe weather on Friday, no doubt, prerenting holders at a distance from sending their lots forward. Only a few were disposed of. We quote best draughts from £lB to £24105; medium, £lO to £l6 ; hacks, n o really good offering ; medium, £8 to £l3; light and weedy £2 to £6. Cattle —At the Washdyke yards on Wednesday last the entry was a small one, being confined chiefly to young stores and dairy cows, with only a few head of fat cattle, for which there was not much demand. We sold steers at £5 2s 6d per head ; yearlings, 20s ; cows, springing and in milk, at from £4 7s 6d to £6 10 J . Privately during the week we placed 24 bead prime fat bullocks and 11 bead bullocks and cows.

Sheep—At Washdyke on Thursday there was an average entry of fat and store sheep. Very few lots, however, changed hands. We sold 250 crossbred ewes in low condition at Is lOd each.

Colonial Breadstuff's— Adelaide wheat is unchanged ; Adelaide flour, ex store, is 245, and New Zealand wheat ex store is quoted at 28s to 335, according to the grade. The total quantity of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,050,000 quarters. Tallow—Best Australian beef, average price is 26s j mutton, ditto, 28s per owt.
