American Summary,

Seventeen bilkers were arrested in New York on May 16th for boycotting Mrs Landarf, a Bohemian widow, it biker, and in the evening it took a Urge force if police to prevent a crowd of Bohemian women from tearing the widow and her shop to pieces. Large quantities of dynamite have been found, especially in the office of the , ■ Arbeiter Zeitung, the anarchist organ.From this office 25 printers have been . arraigned before Judge Meecli for murder. Twenty-four wounded police officers are lying in the county hospital wards, many of whom will die. A greater feeling of confidence prevailed in Chicago on the 6th and 7th May, consequent on the fact that the authorities had proved themselves able to preserve the peace. The police had raided a number of an arc-hut dens, ' and found arms, ammunition, bombs,, and dynamite, together with quantities of inflammatory literature. Quiet was restored in Milwaukee after some six or seven Polanders had been killed. ' f

The Pall Mall Gazette of the 6th May, commenting on these riots, says that Europe having adopted a system of exporting paupers to‘the United States, is primarily answerable for tlurtroubles, and secondly, that America has shown fatal kindness in receiving such paupers, and is now reaping the results of her folly in trying to make American citizens out of the scum of Europe.
