A difficulty has arisen between Turkey and Greece, m consequence of the latter country persisting in retaining possession and fortifying the heights of Mount Zygos, which position dominates the town of Netzovo, in Albania.

The crisis caused in Austria by the aggressive action of Hungary is subsiding.

Melbourne, June 2.
Mr Gillies, Premier, and Mr Wrixon, Attorney-General, have been appointed to represent the colony in the Federal Council, in place of Mersrs Service and Berry, who are both in England. Tho Melbourne City Council refused an application for the use of the Town Hall for a Nationists’ meeting in support of Mr Gladstone’s Irish proposals.
The Tarawera arrived this morning from New Zealand. Sydney, June 2.
At a public meeting held last night, resolutions were adopted approving the tariff proposed by Government. Holt was brought up for sentence today, and condemned to four years’ hard labor in Darlinghurst gaol. Nows is to band from the Now Hebrides stating that heavy gales lately prevailed there, causing serious damage to plantations. The Tekapo left Newcastle this morning for New Zealand. Brisbane, June 2.
The sailors on board the Auckland Harbor Board’s dredge, No. 121, which has arrived here from Glasgow, have refused to proceed to sea on her. The dredge ran ashore while coming through the Red Sea, and the men allege, in consequence, she is unseawortby in her present condition. Captain Tison, the Shipping Inspector, has boarded the vessel, accompanied by competent marine surveyors, in order to report whether the action of the sailors is well grounded,
