HOUSEHOLDERS’ MEETING AT AROWHENUA.

A meeting of the householders of / rowhenua, convened by Mr Edgeler for the purpose of farther explaining matters with reference to constituting Amwhenua a Town District, was held at Mr Edgeler’s residence, Beilgrbv® Cottage, last Saturday evening. There was only a small attendance. Mr Fletcher was voted to the chair, who, after reading,. the advertisement convening the , meeting, called on Mr Edgeler to address those present. Ring, ]n the absence of Mr Lee, Mr Fletcher took the chair, He said he was in favor of a deputation being appointed to confer with, the Geraldine County Council, with the view of obtaining that body’s approval of the steps that were bring taken to m*k« Arowhenua a Town District, and asked someone to move a resolution to that effect,

Mr Ehgeler thought that Mr Rolleston would be better able to meet the Council, and obtain its approval. . Mr Boulter said be believed it had to be a deputation consisting of householders in the township. Mr Frew said the best step to take was to get the signatures to the petition first. After some further discussion, Mr Kdgeler moved, Mr Fawdray seconded, and it was carried “ That Messrs Lee and Frew be appointed a deputation to wait on the Geraldine County Council, to inform them that it is the intention of the householders of Arowhenua to bring the township under the provisions of the Town Districts Act 1881 Amendment Act 18 83.”

This concluded the.business, and the meeting terminated with the usual Tote of thanks to the chair.
