ENGLISH AND FOREIGN, Londok, July 10. Lord Euston has abandoned his petition praying for a divorce. The Liberals are organising an immense agitation in the provinces, with a to intimidating the members of tha House of Lords, A large amount is being subscribed, but the Lords are confident that the countrjrmll recognise their willingness to r pass the Franchise Bill. .
The protectorate over New Guinea being issued without jurisdiction over foreigners, is deemed unsatisfactory. The Agents-General are urging England to extend the jurisdiction to tha adjoining islands.
It haa transpired that ata meet-’ ing of the Liberal party, to-day, Mr Gladstone announced that the present session would end shortly, and Parliament rr-asaemble in October for the purpose of again passing the Franchise Bill through the House ! of Commons, and submitting it to the House of Lords.
July 11. In the House of Commons last night it was announced that the Local Government Bill and other measures introduced by Ministers, and which had led to a lengthy debate, will be dropped for the present session. The Deceased .Wife’s Siater Bill, which was recently introduced in the House of Lords, has now been withdrawn.
The Committee of financial experts which was appointed by the European Conference to consider the proposals of the British Government as regsr.'s the Egyptian financial questions, have held frequent sittings during the past few days. The Committee is expected to complete its deliberations next week when the Conference will re-»sscmble for the purpose of discussing the report of the experts. Ministerial and Opposition caucuses arc now actively organising for the purpose of agitating respectively' for aud against the reform in the franchise. Paris, July 11. Telegrams from Marseilles report that cholera is still raging there, no less than 58 deaths having occurred yesterday from the disease. Latest news from Toulon states that, tha epidemic is somewhat abating, that mortality yesterday having only amounted to 12 cases, which is below the recent daily average. July 12. It has transpired that the French Government has decided to grant China eight day a in which to agree to the payment of the required indemnity, after which steps will be taken by France to seize a material guarantee for reparation for the Langson outrage.
