Boys' High School Sports Stopped By Bad Weather
Despite light but persistent rain, a start was made with the New Plfymouth Boys' High School annual sports on Saturday afternoon, but just before 4 o clock conditions became increasingly unpleasant and it was dccidcd to postpone the remaining events until to-morrow afternoon. Considering the conditions there was a good attendance of parents, old boys and friends from as far away as Auckland. After the sports were interrupted a gymnastic display was given bv the school's senior gymnastics squad, and Mrs. P. C. Davie, a member of the New Plymouth High Schools' Board. preseuted the atliletic cups in an informal ceremony held in the assembly hall. R. G. Pool, with 15 points, won the under 14 years championship, with R. J. McKay, 12 points, second, and R. J. Crocker, eight points, third. With the high jump and the 120 yards hurdles still to be decided, the leaders in the other two championships are: Senior, R. Church 17, Hatherly 11; junior, T. D. Phillipps 15, K. James 12.
