STRATFORD PROGRAMME
MANY CHILDREN TO TEACH Arrangements have been made at the Stratford baths for the teaching of about 160 children during learn-to-swim week, which will commence on Monday,. Arrangements are also being made at Toko and Tahora. '• Although ' instructors have offered their setvices, more are still. heeded, pacticplarly , in the mommg sessions. The educational officer, Mr V. J. Henderson, is in charge. In the evenings from .'7 till 8 p.m. instruction will be given to adults. Members of the Stratford Swimming Club .will be in attendance to' ssslst. The programme at the Stratford baths, which have been made available by the Egh council, will bee^i(foUows: 9.30-10.15, Stratford A (25); 10.15-11.0, Stratford B (25); 11.0-11.45, Ngaere (17); 11.45-12.30, Bird Road (8) and Waingongoro (7); 1.15-2.0, Stratford C (25); 2.0-2.45, Midhirst (27); 2.45-3.30, Stratford D (25). , . .. In view of the fact that exammations are now being held at the Stratford Technical High School no part will be taken in the week by the school. Swimming has already a large part in the schooi's activities, a definite period being spent in instruction every week during the season. At the end of the term, hOwever, one or two days would be devoted almost exclusively to swimming, said the principal, Mr. A. H. R. Amess, yesterday. Life-saving instruction, among other things, would probably be given. Nine senior pupils from the schdol who are not engaged in the examinations will assist the Inglewood Swimming Club during the week.
