HAWERA

Mrs. G. Corkin, Hawera, has left for Auckland and will cross the Tasman in the Awatea for Sydney to spend a two months' holiday. She will be the guest of her sisters, Mrs. P. Mack and Mrs. E. J. Wood, both of Sydney. Mrs. G. W. Williams and Miss Gwen Williams left by car on Tuesday to spend a few days at Wellington. Mrs. J. A. Dalgetty left for Auckland cn Monday, from where she will sail on Friday to spend several weeks' holiday at Sydney. Mrs. Arnold Thomson entertained callers at tea on Friday afternoon. Miss Sybil Ross, Wanganui, who was Miss M. Bright's guest, returned home last Monday. • Miss I. McLean has returned after snending a few days at Chateau Tongariro. ! Among those who motored from Hawera on Tuesday to the Stratford golf ball were Mrs. Andrew Snowden and Misses M. Hawben, M. Thomson, P. Lovell, H. Stewart, B. Ryan, D. Gilmore, S. Saunders and M. Guy. Farewell Party. Pink and scarlet japonica and camellias were the decorations in Mrs. W. J. Bright's drawing room on Friday evening when Miss Mary Bright entertained several friends at a mixed party to farewell Mr. L. Brathwaite, who is to leave for New Plymouth. The hostess wore a black silk velvet evening model frock clasped with diamante, and her house-guest, Miss S. Ross, Wanganui, was also gowned in black ring velvet, relieved with a waratah red corsage spray. Others present included Misses B. Gordon-Eliott (Feilding), M. McKenzie, P. Lovell, C. Tonks, E. Gordon-Eliott and N. Duckworth.
