STATE THEATRE, NEW PLYMOUTH.
"MICHAEL STROGOFF" TOMORROW. , "Pigskin Parade" and ; "We Who are About to Die" will be screened fifially today at the State Theatre at 2 and 7.45 p.m. The former is a bright and snappy musical comedy and stars Patsy Kelly, Johnnie Downs, Stuart Erwin, Betty Grable and Arline Judge. The seconcr feature is '.a G-meii thriller starring Preston Foster and Ann Dvorak. A ciramatic story of ad venture in Siberia is unfolded in "Michael Strogoff," which is to commence a season at the State Theatre to-morrow at 2 and 8 p.m. The title role is portrayed in very convincing manner by Anton Walbrook, and .opposite him Elizabeth Allan is responsible for an appealing performance. Akim Tamiroff takes the part of Ogarefl, an ex-colonel of the Russian Army, who leads a Tartar rebellon against the Tsar. There are spectacular scenes of the rebels besieging the city of Irkutski and endeavcuring to set fire to it by pouring kerosene on the river . and igniting it. Margot Grahame plays opposite Walbrook in many-of the more adventurous parts ot the film. In the role of the beautiful spy, Zangarra, Miss Grahame gives j a performance that adds greatly to the success of the' film. Others in a powerful cast are Eric Blore, who plays the role of Cyril Blount, a British war correspondent, and Edward Brophy, who is seen as Eddie Packer, an American correspondent. The picture abounds in exciting and dramatic incidents and should prove popular with New Plymouth audiences. The box plans are open at C9Ilier's and the prices are ls, ls 6d and 2s 3d circle.
