Mrs. G. Clark, who has been the guest of her mother, Mrs. O. M. Curtis, left on Wednesday for her home at New Plymouth. Mrs. A. J. Healey, who has been the guest of Mrs. S. Brown left yesterday for Hawera en route for her home at Clive, Central Otago. Miss Hope Grant has returned from Auckland, where she was the guest of Mrs. R. Richardson. Mrs. R. Strauchan is on a rnbtor tour of the north. Miss L. Penn has returned from a brief visit to Auckland. Mrs. N. F. Thorpe and Miss Nora Thorpe will leave on Monday fdr Auckland. Miss L. Yoimg, Christchurch, is Mrs. L. H. Jardine's guest. Mrs. Beale and Miss J. Beale, Wellington, are the guests of ' Miss Wilson at St. Mary's Diocesan School. Mrs. D. Steven left yesterday morning by car to spend a few days at Maungatawhira, in tlie Auckland district. Bridge hostesses this week included Mrs. G. Fredric, Mrs. J. Hunt, Mrs. L. J. Furrie and Mrs. J. B. Richards. On Tuesday afternoon Mrs. L. H. Jardine was wearing a black silk velvet gown and matching coatee when 'she was hostess at two tables of bridge. Those playing were Mesdames A. W. Budge, F. Uniacke, G. Hall, D, Steven, J. S. Lyons, A. Coleman, F. P. D. Jeffries and L. H. Jardine. Mrs. E. P. Blanchard and Mrs. W. J. Davis organised a surprise party to the home of Mrs. A. R. Davis, Stratford, on Monday night on her birthday. The guest of honour wore a frock of black satin, with cherry bridge coat. A birthday cake made and iced by Mrs. W. J. Davis was presented to the guest. Among those; present were Mrs. A. Davis, Mrs. Blanchard, Mrs. Reed, Mrs. Phillips, Mrs. Hedgeman, Mrs. McVicar; Mrs. W. Davis, Mrs. Urwin, Miss Davis and Mrs. Featherston.

Bowls of chrysanthemums arranged with autumn foliage were the decoratinns in Mrs. G. Fredric's drawing-room on Tuesday afternoon when she welcomed guests to tea. They were Mesdames 0. M. Curtis, S. M. Porritt, H. Good, F. Tyrer, G. Clarke (New Plymouth), L. J. Furrie, E. S. Rutherfurd, J. E. Anderson, S. Pitt, A. J. Healey (Norfolk Road), and Misses Wilson and M. Porritt. The hostess chose a wine georgette and lace gown. Mesdames P. Thomson, H. Kirkwood. R. D. Thompson, Stewart, McGregor and H. Heslop were Mrs. A. H. R. Amess' guests at tea yesterday afternoon, when her drawing room was decorated with multi-coloured chrysanthemums. The hostess wore a black lace gown relieved with cherry velvet coatee and shoes.

Farewell Partfes. Wearing a tinsel brocade gown of. flame shade with matching velvet wrap Mrs. W. D. Brown was the guest of honour on Wednesday evening when Miss Molly WhitUe was hostess at bridge. For the occasion her aunt, Mrs. W. P. Mark, lent her spacious drawing room, which was gay with chrysanthemum and foliage decorations. Miss Whittle was wearing a floral patterned tinsel crepe gown with a posy of velvet-shaded flowers at the neckline. Mrs. Mark chose a gown of embossed gold lame, featuring a high neckline. Prizes for bridge honours went to Mrs. G- McCullough and Miss M. Curd. Others playing were Mesdames C. Lambart and W. B. Farquharson and Misses J. Bremner, B. Masters, M. Porritt, M. Malone, N. Thorpe, 0. Masters, M. Lyons, Z. Masters, R. Furrie and J. Mark. Friends gathered to farewell Mrs. W. D. Brown on Wednesday afternoon, when Mrs. F. Bowler was hostess at tea. Her drawing room was decorated with bowls of autumn shaded chrysanthemums and leafy foliage. The hostess wore a navy taffeta gown. Mrs. Brown chose a grey tailleur costume, coronation blue velour j hat and matching accessories. Those pre- j sent were Mesdames L. C. Jolly, W. J. ] Polson, A. H. R. Amess, P.
