MANAIA DISTRICT NEWS
ANNUAL MEETING OF THE R.S.A.
The annual meeting of the Manaia branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association was held in the Manaia town hall, there being a large attendance. Mr. L. A. Walters presided. Before commencing the meeting the chairman referred to the death of Mr. A. G. Bennett, a former secretary. The annual report showed a successful year. A credit balance of £69 5s 7d was recorded. Thanks were . extended to all who in any way assisted the branch. The election of officers resulted: President, Dr. C. R. Davies! vice-presidents, Messrs. B. Badland and H. Bayliss; executive committee, Messrs. L. A. Walters, H. Mead, W. Auton, A. Baldwin, R. S. F. Craig, W. J. Cryer, president an dvicepresidents; treasurer, Mr. G. ,R. Watts; auditor, Mr. W. Spooner. Mr. H. Mead paid a tribue to the retiring president for his services for the association. A general discussion took place on details in connection with the welfare df the branch. A vote of thanks was accorded the Manaia Methodist ladies' guild, Miss Mead, Mrs. Corkill and all who assisted with Poppy Day.
