Mrs. S. C. Haybittle, Masterton, and her daughter, Miss Mary Haybittle, arrived at Hawera on Thursday night and will be Mrs. R. S. Haybittle's guests at Easter. Mrs. Ritter is visiting Auckland for the Pacey— Stewart wedding. Mrs. W. A. Spragg left on Thursday to spend a week or two at Wellington, where she will be Mrs. R. Turnbull's guest. Miss C. Lawry and Miss Nance Lennox, both of Auckland, will be the guests cf Mrs. J. N. Anderson at the White Hart for Easter. Mrs. C. Whittington is spending a week at Ohawe beach. Mrs. W. Rudge motored to Wellington on Thursday and she will meet her sister, who arrives to-day by the Mataroa from England on an extended visit to New Zealand. Mrs. Vernon Spragg is visiting her sis-ter-in-law, Mrs. G. S. Anehor, Hamilton, for 'Easter. Miss J. McCall left yesterday for a short visit to Wellington. Mrs. Ashley Petty, who was Mrs. W. A, Spragg's guest, has returned to New Plymouth for a few days before going to Hamilton. Miss Francie Murray, Wellington, is visiting her parents for the week-end. Mrs. A. W. Horton, Greytown, and Miss Grace Brown, also of Wairarapa, are the guests of Mrs. J. H. Morton. Mrs. J. B. Rowe left yesterday to motor to Raetihi and Taupo for the weekend. Mrs. R. Milne-Allen and' her daughter Robin, who were Mrs. J. B. Rowe's guests during the week, left on Friday for Wellington to live. Miss Mary Bright is visiting friends at Wanganui. Mrs. W .W. Thomas and Misss Norma Thomas left for Hastings yesterday. Mrs. Bate, Auckland, is Mrs. S. R. Oliver's guest at Nolantown. Mrs. J. M'. Collins is visiting Palmerston North. , Mrs. H. H. Bramwell left yesterday to spend the Easter vacation at Plimmerton. Mrs. M. J. Burns, who returned during the week from a tour of the North Island and a short visit to the south, left on Wednesday to stay with her mother, Mrs. Lawrence, at Tauranga for Easter. Miss M. Bourke returned to Wellington yesterday. Mrs. G. Rich, New Plymouth, is staying with Miss Ingles. Mrs. B. C. Bennett returned on Tuesday after spending a month's holiday on the West Coast, Christchurch and Dunedin. Mrs. J. E. Campbell has returned from a fortnight's holiday in the South Island. Miss M. Hawken is visiting her sister, Mrs. E. S. Rutlierfurd, Stratford.
Mr. and Mrs. V. H. Nowell left early in the week for Auckland, where they joined the Awatea on Wednesday for Sydney. They intend to spend several weeks' holiday in New South Wales and Victoria. Atmore (Nelson), R. H. Leece, A. M. Young, A. Thomson, S. A. Chisholm, C. G. Trotter and Miss I. M. Glenn were her guests. A floral frock in pastel green and daffbdil tones was chosen by Mrs. R. R. llenderson during the week when Mesdames W. A. Sharpe, F. G. Walker, Charles Good, W. M. Egglestone, Marychurch, J. L. Thomson and W. W. Thomas were her guests at tea. Croquet Teanis Honoured. The Park Croquet Club members of the team that was runner-up to Stratford for the McL'Dowie Cup (Mesdames A. Henry, T. Hobbs senr., W. O'Brien and W. Dowden), and the team that won the Lees Cup for intermediate players (Mesdames W. A. Spragg, R. Jackson, J. H. Horton and Miss Tait) were entertained by the ciub at a celebration tea on Thursday. The McL'Dowie Cup team each received a floral shoulder spray, and the Lees Cup winner a floral posy each, Mrs. J. W. J. j Harding, president of the club, making the presentations. Opportunity was taken to farewell one of their number, Mrs. J. Hey, who will soon leave to spend 12 months' holiday overseas. Mrs. Hey received a posy in pink and lavender. Mrs. W. R. Shaw, another rnember, who will leave early next month to spend a holiday at Honolulu, received a bouquet of i rcses and aster blooms. The bouquets, Iposies and shoulder sprays were made and given by Mrs. A. Murdock and Miss I. B. Smith. . Other members present mcluded Mesdames Harding, F. Chadwick, Shaw, W. Moore, Cummerford, R. Wearing a frock of Mary blue crepe elaine, Mrs. R. Joycc, Tawhiti, entertained friends at a mixed flag 500 gift party last week in honour of Miss Magdalene La Pouple, whose marriage will take place next week. The guest of honour wore a French model frock in scarlet and black floral design. Her mot-her, Mrs. B. La Pouple, wore a deep burgundy frock relieved with champagnebeige lace. Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. Joyce were among the winners of five hundied and Mesdames Muir, Way, Hughes, Joyce and Misses Davison and J. McLean were among others present.
