MOKAU RIVER TRIALS
ANNUAL MEETING OF CLUB. SUCCESSFUL YEAR REVIEWED. Another year of progress was reviewea at the annual meeting of the Mokau River Dog Trial Club, which was held this week, the report showing that Ihe trials had proved successful from the viewpoint not only of the entries and the standard of work, but also of the financial result. The balance-sheet showed that receipls had been £53 los 4d^ and expendilure £49 9s, leaving a prolit of £4 6s 4d on the year's working. That increased the eredit balance to £17 18s 8d, which was considered very satisfactory, especially as the club had expended a further sum on the pavilion, which had yet to be completed. The action of the committee in voting £1 ls towards the funds for research into distemper serum was confirmed. Officials were re-elected as follows: Patron, Mr. W. J. McKeown; president, Mr. T. S. Radford; joint hon. secretary, Messrs. A. McA. Sutton and R. J. Randell; hon. auditor, Mr. D, R. Sage. The triais will be held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 15, 16 and 17, and the programme and conditions will be the same as last year, with two open events and two events for dogs that have not won a first prize. Members of the incoming committee expressed keenness to continue the original policy of the clifb in catering more for the younger competitions in all districts and were opposed to fixing boundaries in any event. The newly-formed Tainui brarich of the Returned Soldiers' Association offered to hold a dance on the second night of the trials, an . arrangement which was approved by the committee.
