BUSINESS IN TARANAKI DAIRY HEIFEK MARKET STRONG. 1NDICATION OF HIGHER VALUES. The Farmers' Co-op. in its stock market review states that the feature of the week has been the renewed confidence displayd in the dairy heifer market, numerous saies having been made for immediate delivery at values above the Jnne rates of last year. The wonderful feed conditions existing in outside districts no doubt accounts for the readiness on the part of buyers to take immediate delivery. While the available supplies of all classes of dairy stock for noxt season's requiremenls seem to fall short of other years, the general impression seems current that the demand will also not reach the high level of other years. Despite this, however, every indication of values being on a higher plane seems assure& Wool values continue to show an upward trend, the recent Dunedin sale constituting the highest level of the series to date, medium crossbred showing an appreciable rise. All classes of fat stock continue to remain firm in value, no further decline in export schedules being announced. For butcher requirements best fat ewes continue to realise 20s to 21s, with best fat wethers 29s to 30s, best prime .fat cows and heifers £8 to £8 10s, lighter sorts £7 5s to £7 15s. While the demand for all classes of siore sheep continues strong, quotations remain few and far between. Ewes, m. aged, to S.D. Romney Rams, are keenly sought,- but here again good lines remain difficult to procure. Saies of ewe lambs include 500 extra good sheep 29s 6d, 800 good sheep 27s. Saies of wether lambs iriclude 900 medium sheep at 14s, good sheep selling to 19s 6d. More activity continues to be shown m the dairy stock section, saies, including all for immediate delivery, being 130 good two-year heifers at £7, 26 good threeyear heifers £7 10s, 24 good two-year heifers £7 10s and a line of extra choice threeyear heifers £8. IVeaner heifers, in sympathy with the older cattle, display slightly more activity, best cattle selling from £o 5s to £3 15s and more medium £2 10s to £2 15s. Saies at all centres . have been well supported, slightly less keen competition being witnessed on the store cows.
