STRIKE THREATENED
ALL COALFIELDS IN BRITAIN. DECISION OF MINERS’ DELEGATES. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 5.5 p.m. London, Dec. 19. The miners’ delegates have decided to give notice to become effective on all fields on January 27 if wage proposals satisfactory to the miners are not obtained in the meantime. The wages dispute in the industry was the subject of anxious consultations throughout yesterday, in the course of which the Minister of Mines, Mr. H. F. Crookshank, had interviews in the morning and evening with the executive of the Miners’ Federation. Mr. Crookshank announced in the House of Commons that the Government had refused the request of the Mine Workers’ Federation that it should augment wages out of public funds. Shortly before midnight after a long meeting of the Federation Mr. Joseph Jones, its president, said the situation was exceedingly grave.
