METHODIST BAZAAR

GATHERING AT ELTHAM. CONCERT IN THE EVENING. Opened by the Mayoress, Mra. I. J. Bridger, the annual bazaar of the Eltham Methodist Church was held on Wednesday. Mrs. Bridger wished the organisers success with the undertaking. The Rev. H. Spencer thanked Mrs. Bridger and asked her to accept a box of chocolates from the Ladies’ Guild. Stall-holders were: Sewing, Mesdames H. Spencer and L. Pinny and Miss J. Phillips; produce, Mesdames z ßootten jnr., T. Cox and H. Gardiner; cakes, Mesdames Reynolds and A. Turner; sweets, Mesdames A. Symmons and A. Ware and Bible Class girls; tea room, Mesdames Bootten senr.. Streeter, Urry and Oliver; Finnerty Road stall, Mesdames Styles and H. Ogle and Miss Styles. In the evening a concert was held. The main attraction was “Kamola,” the magician, who amazed the audience with conjuring feats. Items were given by Mrs. R. Pascoe (Kaponga), Miss Vera Davis, Miss Joyce Webby and the Boys’ Bible Class. Institute Flag 500 at Rawhitiroa. The Rawhitiroa Women’s Institute held a most successful flag 500 evening and dance recently to raise funds for the health stamp campaign. Ten tables were occupied. At the winning tables were Misses J. Heather and E. Foreman and Messrs. L. Bootten and J. Dickie. Hidden number prizes were won by Miss Ida Bleakley, and Messrs. R. Neil and D. Johnston. Music for dancing was' played by Miss Gwen Silver and an extra was given by Mr. Pat O’Connor. Mr. Baker was master of ceremonies.
