BALLOT ON STRIKE

BRITISH COAL MINE WORKERS.

REFUSAL TO CHANGE MIND

(British Official Wireless.) Rec. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, Oct. 6.

The Mine-Workers' Federation has declined to reconsider the decision to take a strike ballot next week. This was announced after the federation had examined a communication made by the Secretary for Mines to the effect that as a result of the undertaking given by the colliery owners that selling organisations would be set up in every district before next July uneconomic competition in the home market would be eliminated, thus permitting higher wages to be paid.
