EWES, LAMBS, HOGGETS ADVANCE. IMPROVEMENT IN FAT CATTLE. Christchurch, Nov. 6. There was a double market at Addington to-day and values in all the major sections advanced in price, ewes and ]—hs and hoggets by Is 6d to 2s, fat sheep by Is to Is 6d, fat cattle by 255, and vealers by 10s. Store sheep: Ewe hoggets made to 345; wether hoggets to 24s 6d; ewes and 1-nbs to 15s 7d. Fat sheep: An entry of 4650 head. Extra prime heavy wethers made to 29s lOd; prime heavy 23s 6d to 265; prime medium-weight 21s 6d to 23s 3d; ordinary, 19s 9d to 21s 3d; extra prime' heavy ewes to 19s lOd; prime heavy, 21s 6d to 235; prime mediumweight, 19s to 21s; ordinary, 17s 9d to 18s 9d: Fat cattle: 504 were penned, all local cattle except a few trucks from the West Coast. The sale firmed as it progressed. Best beef made 34s to 36s 6d a 1001 b; good, 32s to 33s 6d; heifer beef, dinary, £8 15s to £lO 10s. Extra prime heavy steers sold to £l6 7s 6d; prime medium-weight, £ll 15s to £l3 ss; ordinary, £8 15s to £lO 10s. Extra prime heifers to £l3 12s 6d; prime, £8 5s to £lO ss; ordinary, £6 10s to £7 15s. Extra prime cows to £ll 12s 6d; prime, £7 15s to £9 ss; ordinary, £6 5s to £7 10s. Fat pigs. The market was unchanged. Choppers, 30s to £6 8s 6d; baconers, 45s 6d to £3 5s 6d; average price per lb., 41d to 5Jd. Porkers, 28s to 42s 6d; average per lb, 5Jd to 6d.
