KEEN SALE FOR PRIME SHEEP. BIG YARDING AT JOHNSONVILLE. Wellington, Nov. 6. Large yardings of both cattle and sheep were forward at the Johnsonville stock sale, held to-day by Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd. The bullocks comprised chiefly prime heavy cattle, with a few pens of medium sorts. Prime heavy bullocks met with good competition, but prices were easier than last week. Lightweights and unfinished sorts were hard to quit. Several pens of very heavy cows came forward and sold well, but plain cows and heifers realised from 5s to 10s a head less than last week. Dairy sorts sold at late rates. A small yarding of runners and vealers did not meet the usual competition. The yarding of wethers was not of the usual good quality. Prime heavy sheep met with a keen sale, with prices firm at late rates, while unfinished sheep were dujl of sale. The offerings of ewes comprised chiefly prune heavy woolly sheep, with very few shorn sheep. There was a keen demand, but prices were easier on last week’s. An average yarding of_ shorn hoggets sold at late rates. An average yarding of good quality lambs met with spirited competition at late rates.
