MEDALS PRESENTED

KAPONGA FIRE BRIGADE WORK. ANGLICAN GUILD CARD EVENING. Five-year medals and bars were presented to firemen at the monthly meeting of the Kaponga Volunteer Fire Brigade on Tuesday evening. Superintendent A. Melville presided over a splendid attendance. The Kaponga Town Board forwarded its subsidy of £lO 10s. The medals and bars presented were:— Five-year medals: Firemen L. Wells, C. Behl, K. Albon, G. Davies and H. Mills. Three-year certificate: Fireman L. Brewer. Two-year bars: Firemen H. Brewer, R. Noonan and G. Noonan. Two-year bars: Superintendent A. Melville (2), Deputy-Superintendent J. H. Tyack and Fireman F. Albon. Superintendent Melville congratulated the recipients upon their success and hoped they would be able to carry on and subsequently qualify for their 25year gold star. He was looking forward to the time, two years hence, when he would qualify for this coveted honour. The series of eight flag 500 evenings conducted by the St. Mark’s Anglican Guild was concluded at the parish hall on Tuesday evening when there was a good attendance. The prizes for the winning table, comprising M. sdames Wells, Rountree and Mr. C. Watson, were given by Mesdames Bertie and Dawson. The winning table also annexed the travelling' prizes. Tire flag prizes were won by Mrs. Boyle and Mr. Watson. The points prize covering the whole series of eight evenings was won by Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Blackwell.
