TENNIS AND CROQUET CLUBS. OPENING DAY CEREMONIES., The Opunake Tennis Club opened its season at the week-end. There was a good attendance of members and visitors. Mr. G. Mclvor, president, welcomed the visitors and anticipated a successful season. He. congratulated the club on the number of young players joining the club. • A tournament was held, 34 players taking part. In the semi-final Miss Wan and M. O’Neill defeated Miss Knight and J. Bolger 4—3. In the final Mrs. Bowman and McPherson defeated Miss W; n and M. O’Neill 4-3. The croquet club also opened its season on Saturday afternoon. Mrs. R. Ritchie, president, welcomed’ the visitors and called on Mrs. G. Feaver to make the first hoop. Mrs. R. ; Jenkin presented Mrs. R. Ritchie with a bouquet. The occasion was also taken to present the secretary with a gift in recognition of her services and interest in the club. The presentation was made by the president. Tie competition winners were: Triangle, Mrs. J. Morris; French croquet, Mrs. Fawcett; hitting the peg, Mrs. Dalrymple. Miss Queenie Sinclair is spending a holiday at Cambridge.
