MANAKORIHI WOMEN PLAYERS. SUCCESSFUL SEASON CLOSED. The women of the Manakorihi club, held its official closing day on Tuesday in fine weather. More than 25 members and 30 visitors were present. A put and take competition over nine holes was played in the early part of the afternoon, Miss B. Sprosen winning with an excellent card f 54—18—36. Mrs. E. A. George’s trophy for approaching and putting was won by Miss L. Squire and Miss M. Nosworthy’s trophy for non-handicap players’ putting was won by Miss A. Wells. Miss D. Jupp won Mrs. Sarten's trophy for the visitors’ putting competition. The club-captain, Mrs. I. G. Pritchard, ■ elcomed the visitors. The president, Mr. E. A. George, presented the trophies. He congratulated members on a successful season and reminded tnem to keep their clubs clean for the general closing day at the end of the month. Mrs. H. E. Vaughan replied on behalf of the visitors. The trophies presented were:— Championships: Senior, Mrs. C. M. Whyte; junior, Miss L. Limnier; limit, Mrs. H. Beckbessinger. Other trophies: L.G.U. silver medal, Mrs. C. M. The Abbott Ferns changed hands at Eltnam yesterday when T. Bluett and L. Taylor beat T. Gibson and T. Fountaine 3 and 1. TROPHIES FOR COMPETITION. GIFTS TO WESTOWN GOLF CLUB. The Westown Golf Club has received further gifts of three cups for competitions. The first, the J. B. Mac Ewan Cup, has been donated for the aggregate of two mixed Canadian foursomes. The foursome competitions .’ill be played on the afternoon of Labour Day and- on closing day. The second cup, known as the Regent Cup has been given by the directors of the People’s Picture Company for the best aggregate score on three medal rounds to be played on the next three Saturday afternoons. ' The third cup, known as the Wood Cup, has been allocated to the men’s junior-cham-pionship and will be held by the club as a championship trophy. MANGATOKI BOGEY MATCH. MRS. HARRISON, THE WINNER. Mrs. Harrison, all square, was the winner of a bogey match at Mangatoki yesterday. Miss J. Hill, one down, was runner-up. Mrs. R. Lee beat Miss Eva Terry 2 and 1 in the final of the Taylor Cup competition. Miss J. Hill was umpire. Handicap reductions are:—Mrs. Harrison 23 to 19, Miss J. Hill 21 to 19. GOLF DRAWS.
