The first two rounds of match play in the amateur and professional golf championships were played at f-hirley to-day. Among the former champions who were beaten were K. Ross, B. "• • Wright, E. M Macfarlane (a former winner of the open), A. G. Sime, A. D. S. Duncan and H. A. Black and among the professionals Douglas and Mclntosh. Conditions for play.were ideal. Results were:—
