RESCUE FROM FIRE

GOOD WORK BY WARSHIP EXPLOSION ON A TANKER THREE NORWEGIANS DEAD VESSEL REACHES PORT British Official Wireless. Rec. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, Oct. 15. The Norwegian oil tanker Barfonn, which caught fire following an explosion off the south Devon coast on Sunday night, was saved by the British destroyer Wrestler, and steamed slowly into Portland last night. The Wrestler on reaching the burning tanker got a wire aboard and kept her stern to the wind so that the flames from the seat of the fire forward blew out over the bows. The Wrestler was fully equipped with fire-fighting appliances and after many hours of work the fire was subdued. Three members of the .jarfonn’s crew were killed by the explosion. Sixteen were taken off by another Norwegian tanker and the vessel was brought to port by the remaining 14 members.
