APPROVAL BY BOARD MEETING.

CONVERSION STILL PROGRESSES.

A meeting of the Local Government Loans Board to-day dealt with applications for sanction to raise loans from 25 local authorities throughout New Zealand, the sum involved amounting to £535,200. Of this amount the board sanctioned £472,100, including renewals of £105,000. The balance of £63,100 was either declined or referred back to the local bodies concerned for further consideration.

Approval was given to local authorities to utilise for other purposes capital moneys totalling £4,200 received by them from the sale of assets previously purchased out of loan money. The continued progress of local body debt conversion was demonstrated by the fact that 11 applications for approval to conversion were received and dealt with. Approval was ; ’ven to the conversion of existing securities totalling £660,731 into new securities for £655,176.
