CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MEETS. COMMUNITY LIGHTING DROPPED. The monthly meeting of the Inglewood Chamber of Commerce was held on Tuesday night, when Messrs. W. J. Smith (president), F. Spurdie, .W. Somerton, J. Burnip, J. Eversfield, E. Crossman, P. Basham and E. Maetzig (secretary) were present. Arising out of the minutes with regard to the community lighting scheme the secretary reported that as no support was forthcoming from the business people the scheme had been dropped. ■ No further action had been taken with regard to the new camp site so the chamber decided to clean up F e old site and erect a fence. 1 It was decided that a letter of appreciation be sent to the postmaster, Mr. T. C. Wilson, for his successful efforts in obtaining further subscribers for th* 1 telephone service and for his interest in the town’s affairs. A letter was received from Sir Alexander Young, Minister of Internal Affairs, stating that the resolution passed by the chamber regarding the universal half-holiday had been noted. However, as the matter was one more particularly for the Minister of Labour he accordingly referred the communication to him for consideration. In reply to a letter from the chamber asking the Napier Chamber of Commerce for a resume of its Christmas entertainment the secretary gave full particulars of the scheme. After consideration the chamber decided that Inglewood, could not provide such a scheme. The chamber is to notify the Norfolk Road Women’s Institute of the result of the communication, as originally the suggestion that Napier be written to asking details of the Christmas entertainment, had come from the institute.
