SAWMILL DESTROYED
SERIOUS FIRE ON WEST COAST.
WORKING AT FULL CAPACITY.

A sawmill at South Beach, owned by Stratford, Blair and Coi, was almost completely destroyed by fire early this morning. A south-west wind fanned the flames and there was no hope of saving the 1 building and the machinery. Valuable stacks of timber were untouched and a locomotive was salvaged.
51 The mill, employing 30 men, had been working at full capacity for a month. The insurance totalled £5OOO.
