RETURN FROM ARCTIC

QUEST ARRIVES AT ABERDEEN.

VALUABLE WEATHER DATA.

Brifish Official Wireless. Rec. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, Sept. 9.

The Quest, the late Sir Ernest Shackleton’s famous ship, reached Aberdeen this afternoon. The Quest was chartered by -the British East Greenland Expedition this summer to transport members of the expedition and stores and to carry out exploration work in the Arctic. It was reported at one time that the ship was in such great danger from the ice that preparations had been made to abandon her. *

Among those who returned to-day was Mr. Courtauld, for whom great anxiety was felt a few years ago when he wintered alone at the northern post and was found by his companions with difficulty in the following spring. On the present voyage. Mr. Courtauld was accompanied by his wife. The leader of the expedition, Mr. L. R. Wager, and several members have remained behind in Greenland for the winter. It is expected that meteorological and other observations will be of great value in connection with possible air transport routes across Greenland.
