Further matches in the American tennis championships resulted:— Men’s singles:—Quarter-finals: Perry (England) beat Shields (United States) G—4, 4—6, B—6, 6—o; Allison (United States) beat Maier (Spain), 6—2, 6—4, 6—4; Wood (United States) beat Mangin (United States) 3—6, 6—l, 6—l, 6—2. Women’s singles:—Quarter-finals: Mrs. King (England) beat Mrs. Van Ryn (United States) 6—2, 6—o; Miss Jacobs (United States) beat Miss Lyle (England) 6—o, 6—4; Miss Stammers (England) beat Miss Babcock (United States) 5—7, 6—3, 6—2. Semi-final: Miss Jacobs defeated Mrs. King 6—4, 6—3; Mrs. Fabyan (United States) beat Miss Stammers 9—7, 7—5.
