ELTHAM PARISH SOCIAL

SUCCESSFUL CHURCH EVENT. The euchre party and dance in the Eltham parish hall on Thursday was more than an ordinary success and a substantial sum was raised to assist St. Joseph’s parish funds. There were 184 euchre players and later there was a still larger assemblage for the dance. The prize-winners were Mr. Meads (Hawera) 1, Mr. J. D. McKay 2, Mr. E. Burgess 3, Mr W. Ruscoe 4; Mrs, Roberts J, Miss G. Ruscoe 2, Mrs. A. E. Lethbridge 3, Mrs. O’Keefe 4. Consolation prizes went to Mr. Johnston and Mrs. Paton. Mr. Barnard won a competition for a ham and Mr. M. Kitchen won a cake. The music was palyed by Miss G. Silver, Miss R. Tip.er, Mrs. Paton and Mr. P. O’Connor, Monte Carlos were won by Mr. and Mrs. Cave and Mr. T. Kyle and Mrs. Wolfe. The masters of ceremonies wore Messrs J.- Henley and G. Coxon. The social was organised by Mrs, M. O’Connor and assistants.
