“FIRM FOUNDATIONS”
AUSTRALIAN WOOL SALE PRICES. KEEN COMPETITION YESTERDAYBy Telegraph’-Press Rec. 8.40 p.m. Sydney, Sept. 6. At the wool sales 11,973 bales were offered and 11,041 bales were sold. In addition 3590 bales were sold privately. The market closed firm at the rate? ruling earlier in the week. There was very keen competition from Japan and the Continent, with Yorkshire operating sparingly. Greasy Merino sold to 20{d. The Financial News, says a London cable, expresses the opinion that the prices operating at the Australian wool sales will at least be maintained since the production for 1935-36 is unlikely to exceed that of the previous year and may even be lower. There may be * doubt whether speculation will again confuse the position, but there is nothin® to indicate at present that the price movement is built on anything but firm foundations.
