LARGE NUMBER OF DANCERS. ATTRACTIVE decorative SCHEME. Even though the attendance was undoubtedly affected by th© many counter attractions the New Plymouth Agricultural Hall was crowded last night on the occasion of the annual ball of th© Star Football Club. This club with a history almost as ©ld as Rugby in Taranaki has always commanded a. big following and this was much in evidence test night. Th© big event, which was well organised and W©U managed, was a great success, Th© hall was effectively decorated, the beautifully . crayoned Egyptian scenes around the walls being relieved by ropes of streamers of the club’s colours, yellow and black. The whole was well set off by the club’s banners hung above the orchestral stand at the end of the hall. The ceiling, with its many hanging painted ferns, further enhanced the general effect, Th© entrance hall was arranged in th© form of a woodland seen© with an abundance ©f greenery arranged in an effective manner. / . The supper room presented a beautiful sight, Long streamers of rod and black had been laid down th© centre and there wer© many vases ©f artistically arranged vases of flowers, wattle, and daffodils predominating. These had been arranged by Mesdames Steptoe, Leqsch and Retter, The supper itself which had-been prepared by the women’s committee did them credit. . Vinsen’s orchestra played the music. The masters of ceremonies wer© Messrs. H, W. Bocock, M. Sofo, J, Rothery, C. Shaw, J, Donaldson rid K. Tocher, Th© committee consisted of Mr, T. Alwyard (chairman), Dr, G. H. Thomson, Messrs. H.
