Andrews (New Zealand) in a hardfought second round match in the American .'championships to-day, 5—7, 5—7, 6—3, 6—4,. 6—4. The match lasted, oyer three hours. It was a disappointing match for the New Zealander. to lose, as he took the first two sets handily and in the fourth and fifth seemed, well bn the way to winning the match. In. both of these he had 3—o leads, only to ! have his opponent rally to take each set. In the final set Buxby unleased a hard driving attack to’, take, four games, but by. scoring with three hard placements and benefiting by one net error, Andrews broke through his opponent’s service in the eighth, game. He still seemed to have a chance to win the match but Buxby broke through. Andrews’ service in the ninth game and won his own service in the tenth. - . The la?t game was long drawn out. Andrews thrice stopped Buxby at match point. ' - Details are:—
