DEATH OF MRS. I. I. SPENCE. The auxiliary scow Tamahae, which has been bar-botmd at Waitara for nearly three weeks owing to weather conditions at Mokau, - left on Sunday morning for a cargo of coal. The death occurred at Pa tea on Sunday of Mrs. Iris Ivy Spence, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Tanner, _ who till recently, were residents of Waitara. She was well known at Waitara. where she went to school. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon at the Waitara cemetery. On Monday night the Waitara subbranch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association will hold an old-time dance in the Clifton hall, in aid of the Mayor’s relief fund. No effort is being spared to make the event enjoyable, and a feature will be the decorations, which will include hundreds of flags.
