BASKETBALL FINAL
DECISION IN CENTRAL DIVISION.
KIWIS DEFEATS EGMONT VILLAGE.
The final of the central division basketball competition was played at Inglewood on Thursday afternoon, when Inglewood Kiwis defeated Egmont Village by the narrow margin of 10 goals to 9. The teams were:—
Inglewood Kiwis: M. Julian, B. List, A. Morgan, N. Nodder, J. Ross, N. Gyde, M. Frewin, L. Sutton and N. Crozier. Egmont Village: J. Thomason, E. Thomason, N. Bowen, I. Upson, E. Upson, D. Chard, B. Bridger, C. Stapleton and I. Gyde. The game throughout was very fast and even, with M. Julian and E. and J. Thomason playing great defensive games for their respective sides. Half-time was called with the goals 6—5 in Egmont Vi'lage’s favour. Soon after the commencement of the second spell Inglewood equalised the score. With only two minutes to go Egmont Village was leading 9—7, but it was then that Inglewood showed true attacking force and landed two goals in quick succession to equalise with only half a minute to go. Another strong attack by Kiwis on the call of time resulted in a goal which won it the central division championship.
