MACFIE GALLIE.
A quiet wedding took place at KnOx Presbyterian Church, Eltham, on June 19, when Jessie Mary, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Gallie, Riverlea, was married to Arthur Edwin, second son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Macfie, Te Awamutu. The Rev. J. A. Rybum performed the ceremony, and Mrs. L. Young, Oaonui, played the wedding music. The bride, Who entered the church escorted by her father, wore a simply cut frock of heavy dull white knapp silk made slim-fitting from a high neckline, which cowled slightly between the line of the long loose raglan sleeves. The skirt formed a slight train from two godets. A beautifully embroidered tulle veil, lent by Mrs. P. Williamson, Oaonui, fell to form a train from a coronet of orange blossom. White satin court shoes and silk gloves were worn. A silver horse shoe was carried- over the arm, with a bouquet of white daphne, azaleas and heather.
Miss Daphne Gallie, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. Her frock was of pink silk crepe made with godets of cream lace in the skirt and a deep yoke of cream lace. Cream lace mittens, pink satin shoes and a pink crystal necklet were worn. Her pink bouquet was of daphne, rosebuds and heather. Dawn Thacker made a dainty flower-girl in a Victorian frock of pale blue taffetas, with which was worn a wide ribbon sash and a ribbon headband. She carried a Vicorian posy of blue and white. Mr. Ted Forsyth, Pihama, was best nan.
The guests were entertained at j.Sheehy’s rooms by the bride’s mother,
who wore a frock of black afgalaine, with trimmings of. white and black and white buttons and a black velour hat She carried a posy of violets. The bride travelled in a frock of wine herringbone tweed trimmed with matching velvet, a wine hat, a black velour coat, with black suede shoes and gunmetal stockings. faynter-jones. A wedding of interest to Toko and Stratford residents was solemnised at the Roman Catholic Church, Stratford, on Tuesday, July 23, when Catherine Annie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs,. Evan Jones, Toko, was married to Alfred Roy, fifth son of Mr. and tire late Mrs. Paynter, East Road. The Rev. Father Brookes officiated. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was charmingly gowned in white satin beaute modelled on slimly fitted lines to the knees, where it flared in soft folds to meet shoes of white satin. The dainty cowl neckline was of white silk angelskin lace and the sleeves of the same lace were worn in full puffs to the elbow and were tightly cuffed to the wrist. Her veil was worn back from the face and was caught with a spray of orange blossom to the nape of the neck, from there falling in filmy folds over her gown. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations, daphne, jonquils and winter roses mingled with maidenhair fern.
The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Bessie Jones, as bridesmaid. She Was daintily frocked in blue floral georgette with shoes to match and wore a dainty lemon felt hat. She carried a bouquet of golden wattle, violets and hardbergia arranged with maidenhair fem. A crystal necklace, the gift of the bridegroom, completed a dainty toilette. Mr. Ernest Paynter was best man. About 40 guests were entertained at the Coronation Hall, Toko, where Mrs. Evan Jones received her guests wearing a brown smartly tailored coat with a matching hat and accessories to tone. Mrs. Turnbull, sister of the groom, wore a modish brdwn costume with a fur stole and hat and shoes to tone. Mr. and Mrs. Paynter left for the north, the bride’s travelling ensemble being a smart bottle green frock with coat and hat to tone. She carried a handsome morocco handbag, the gift of the bridegroom. The bride’s gift to the bridegroom was a solid leather travelling case. The three-tier wedding cake was iced by the bride. The bouquets were made and given by Mrs. M. T. Phillips, Stratford.
