Douglas entertained some of her friends at an enjoyable dinner party on Thursday -night. • 'Miss I Vincent has returned to Mastertoh after a visit to Mrs. C.- Henry. . Mrs. R. Major, Wellington, is visiting her mother, Mrs. Robson, Stratford. Miss V. Stallard has returned from a holiday visit to Auckland. Mrs. J. W. Boon has returned after a visit to Masterton and Woodville. Mrs. C. D, Sole has returned after a visit to Danuevirke. Mrs. Loewenthal, formerly of New Plymouth, who has been visiting her mother, has sailed by the Marama for Sydney, where she will make her home. Miss B. Syme, who has been the guest of Mrs. L. G. Vickers, has returned to Auckland. An enjoyable farewell social was held in the Windsor by members of the post office staff in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Morgan, Mr. Morgan having been transferred to New Plymouth. The evening -was spent in daficing, the music being .played by Mr. R. Mail. Some of those present were Mesdames Morgan, M. Hughson, J. Petrie jiinr., F. Stephens,‘A. Milne, M. Hickey, .E. Masters, W. McKay, V/. Liddell, Boyle, C. Claridge and Bublitz and Misses Mail and Bird.

Mrs. J. Parish, Skinner Road, was hostess at a birthday party given in honour of Miss Queenie Adams. -A merry time was spent in games, competitions, musical items and recitations. Mrs. Parish received her guests wearing a charming frock of brown Frepch crepe, de chine. Among those present were: Mesdames Parish, Peachey (Patea), O’Reilly, Hartley (Patea), Rodgers, Hann, McMillan, Waite, Macßae, Pattinson and Elliott, and Misses Adams, Reid, Haughton and Coleman.

Mrs. E. Masters and Mrs. R. Macßae were joint hostesses at a'party in the Masonic Hall on Tuesday night. Music was played by Mr. V. Henry. Mrs. MacRae wore a smart frock, of wine lace, and Mrs. Masters wore-a becoming gown of wine georgette, and lace. Those present included Mesdames H. T. Cooper, rust matalasse and gold lame; C. Masters, beige silk lace and brown coatee; Petrie, black and white georgette; Harris, lime green georgette and green velvet coatee; Harrison (Eltham), tomato red printed satin; F. Stephens, cherry, floral marocain; Pepperill (Eltham), black crinkled crepe; Morgan, black marocain; C. Higgs, midnight blue satin; Webber, navy floral ninon and pink georgette; Misses J. MacRae, black velvet and white fur; D. Harris, white organdie and shell pink. On Thursday afternoon members of the Stratford Croquet Club and their friends were entertained at the home of Mrs. H. Childs, when Mrs. Childs and Mrs. Vinsen were joint hostesses. The drawing room was attractively arranged with vases of golden wattle and heath. Mrs, Childs welcomed the jguests wearing a beconung frock of black georgette inlet with panels of black silk lace and a black silk lace coatee. Mrs. Vinsen wore a smart frock of Marina blue afghalam© crepe. Items ferewetaoinshrdluetaoieta trimmed with blue and white plaid crepe, Items were, given by Misses Elliot (vocal duets), Miss Tomkin (songs), -Mrs. Clark ' (songs), Mrs. W/ Harris (songs), Miss McCormack (songs). Competitions; and community singing were held, the competition being won by Miss Thompson and Mrs. Buckley.'Those present were Mesdames Barker, C. Kelly, C. Masters, Buckley, R. Macßae, Collingwood, W. Ross, Diver, B. Davis, H. Kleeman, D. White, A. Dickinson, W. Harris, Harper, Sayers,’ W. Clark, Elliot, Tomkin; Coats, Bamford, Blick, Brocklebank; Summerfield, Spearman, Butcher,- Misses Thompson, Tonkin (2), Elliot (3), D. Harris, McCormack. Accompaniments for singing were played by Miss Tonkin. Twenty-first Birthday Party.

' Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wood gave an enjoyable party at the Foresters’ Hall, Stratford, dn Monday evening/ oh the occasion of the twenty-first birthday of Mrs. Wood’s daughter, Miss Molly Whittle, The hall was decorated to give the effect of a bower of delphiniums in a -setting of lycopodium and ferns; Draped lanterns set off the fropks of the dancers. Suppey was served in an adjoining room, ,the decorations of which harmonised with the dance room. Masses of japonic® and camellias adorped the long, tables. Speeches appropriate to. the occasion were made by Mr. Wood: Mr. Young and Mr. .Malone proposed - the toast of Miss Whittle. Mrs, Wood receive?! her guests wearing a frock of fkjral tinsel georgette and Miss Whittle was charmingly gowned in blue floral taffetas. Amongst the . guests were Mesdames D. J. Malone, J. Lyons, H.
