CIVIL AND CRIMINAL CASES. BREACHES OF TRAFFIC RULES. Judgments by default were given in the Hawera Magistrate's Court by Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., yesterday as follows:—Herbert Richard Kemp v. R. Walker, £1 Us 8d (costs 16s); A. H. Shaw v. L. Martin, £3 5. (£1 9s 6d); P. Keegan v. William Robinson, £1 2s (£1 3s); Egmont Box Company v. D. Williamson, £ll 3s (£2 14s); Smith and Trim Ltd. v. F. Lambert, £1 15s 6d (10s). m T, On a judgment summons Toss Pee was ordered to pay E. Penfold £l3 16s and costs £1 Is, in default 14 lays’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as the debtor paid 10s a month to November 1/1933, and thereafter £1 a month. For failing to notify a change of ownership of a motor-cycle within the prescribed time Arthur Noel Dredge, who pleaded guilty by letter, was convicted and fined £1 with 10s costs. For driving a . motor-car along Waihi Road without a license on July 16 Oswald Midgley was convicted and fined 10s with costs 10s. Sergeant Henry said the case arose as the result of a racehorse being killed, and when the police made investigations it was discovered Midgley had no license to drive. Algar Gordon Kirk was convicted and fined 10s with 17s costs, for driving a car without a license. .
Lionel Emest Fink was fined a similar amount for failing to produce his driver’s license on the request of a traffic inspector. , Riding a cycle without a. light cost Edward Hughes the sum of 10s costs. For allowing a ihimney to catch on fire George W. Clark was convicted and ordered to pay 10s costs. Frederick ■ Head was convicted and fined 10s with 10s costs for failing to keep to the left of a traffic dome.
