“UNFAIR POSITION”

WRESTLING UNION; CRITICISED. TOO MUCH OF THE PROFITS KEPT. By Telegi-aph—Press.tjAssoclatiori. WefiOtOn, July 26. George Walker, the wrestler, made a statement, to-day regarding his attitude towards the Wrestling Union. He said that under the, union system there Were far too many .privileged people, as many as .300 free tickets having., been issued at one centre to members and friends. There had grown up the practice of allowing one of the imported American wrestlers, to do the match-making, and this practice involved serious possibilities. The local associations and the union took 20 per cent, of the nett gates after all the expenses had been deducted. This was far too much for amateur bodies, which retained all the broadcasting fees as well. He maintained that the whole business was quite unfair. He was fighting a battle on behalf of those who made their living by wrestling. TWO WRESTLERS DISQUALIFIED. FATE OF KRUSKAMP AND PEREIRA. Wellington, July 26. The New-Zealand Wrestling Union has permanently disqualified Kruskamp and .Pereira. The chief reason in Kruskamp’s case is his failure to keep matches without proper excuse. Pereira has been disqualified for generally unsatisfactory gelations with the union. Pereira will leave Auckland by the Monterey to-mor-row for America.
